System Scale Corporation (United States) - What Multi-Site Manufacturers Need Before a Calibration Audit

Most calibration failures in a plant audit aren't equipment failures. They're documentation failures. The scale was serviced. The certificate exists somewhere. Nobody can find it when the auditor asks.

For manufacturers operating across multiple facilities, the documentation problem is compounded. Different service providers at different sites, different certificate formats, different re-calibration schedules, no central record of what was done and when. When an auditor walks in and asks for calibration records on a specific asset, the answer shouldn't be a search through email inboxes.

A few things we see across our customer base that separate facilities that pass without friction from the ones that scramble:

  • A single calibration provider across all sites. Not because exclusivity matters, but because consistency does. Same certificate format, same traceability chain, same documentation standard at every facility.
  • NIST-traceable certificates, filed by asset. Not by date, not by location. By asset ID. Auditors ask about the floor scale in Bay 4, not about what happened in March.
  • Scheduled re-calibration tied to your PM cycle, not to whoever calls first. Reactive calibration is the most common reason a facility ends up with a gap in its record. A missed service window shows up in the certificate history.
  • ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab backing the work. For regulated industries, this is the line between a defensible certificate and one that gets questioned.

System Scale has operated as an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited industrial weighing and calibration provider since 1979. With 26 locations across the South and Midwest, we work with manufacturers, food processors, chemical operations, and logistics facilities as a multi-site calibration partner across all of their facilities. Employee-owned since 1995.
